The world’s hardest game
A Yankees team has not been swept in the World Series since 1976, against the Big Red Machine. But this World Series could be over in a New York minute if the Yankees don’t come to life Tuesday night.< https://cabooltureweather.net/astonishing-deepfakes-of-margot-robbie-that-are-nearly-impossible-to-distinguish-from-reality/ /p>
Even before the Yankees lost Game 3, manager Aaron Boone had ruled out bringing back staff ace Gerrit Cole on short rest. Cole only threw 88 pitches in a terrific Game 1 outing, but he dealt with a right elbow issue that delayed his start to the season, and the Yankees don’t want to press him.
“We know what’s at stake,” Freeman said. “We’ve got a chance to be champions, and we know they’ve got nothing to lose, and they’re going to come out and do everything they can. It’s our job to go out there and hopefully put together another good ballgame.”
Game 5 world series 2024
The Yankees are still down 3-1, so there’s a lot of work left to be done. But with one more win on Wednesday night, this series will head back to Chavez Ravine … and you’ll see some Angelenos start to sweat a little.
Lasting impression of this World Series: The 120th World Series ended with the Dodgers in a pile on the mound and the Yankees stunned by an all-time awful fifth inning that allowed the Dodgers to win their eighth championship. The two-error frame, compounded by one mental blunder, will go down as one of the worst half-innings in Yankees history, turning a 5-0 lead into a 5-5 score. It also speaks to a series won on the margins.
• Freeman had 12 RBIs in this series, tying 1960 Bobby Richardson for the most in a single World Series (RBI official since 1920). It’s also the most RBIs in a postseason series in Dodgers history, ahead of Tommy Edman in the 2024 NLCS and Corey Seager in the 2020 NLCS with 11 each.
• Teams are now 7-227 when trailing by at least five runs in World Series games and 20-624 in postseason history when trailing by at least five. The other World Series comebacks from five down, aside from the Dodgers: The Phillies in 2022 Game 1, Angels in 2002 Game 6, Yankees in 1996 Game 4, Blue Jays in 1993 Game 4, Dodgers in 1956 Game 2 and A’s in 1929 Game 4.
Their shortcomings finally caught up with them in Game 5. A total meltdown of a fifth inning, one that will be remembered as one of the worst in World Series history, cost the Yankees their season. Aaron Judge flubbed a routine fly out for his first error of the entire year — regular season or postseason. Anthony Volpe couldn’t make an accurate throw to third base. Gerrit Cole didn’t cover first base on what would’ve been an inning-ending groundout, opening the floodgates. From there, the Dodgers scored five runs to tie the game. The Yankees retook the lead even after all of this — but fumbled it away again in the eighth inning.
College world series game 3
Dreiling, a sophomore, was Tennessee’s third-leading home run hitter coming into Omaha with 19, alongside a .330 batting average and 1.153 OPS. Stark slugged nine homers in his senior season, batting .234 with a .921 OPS. His home run on Sunday was his first hit of the College World Series.
A&M will turn to lefthander Justin Lamkin, who started both of its wins against Florida in Omaha. He threw eight scoreless innings over the two games, including on Wednesday when he struck out nine batters in five innings.

Outside of an Aaron Judge walk…nothing going for the Yanks in the bottom of the eighth. Juan Soto lined out, and then both Giancarlo Stanton and Jazz Chisholm struck out. (Stanton fell victim to another generous interpretation of the strike zone.)
2. At 9:00 a.m. Stadium staff will start the lottery process. Each person in line (over age of 16 and with a matching photo ID to their credit/debit card) will be assigned a number, that number will also be put into a box where it will then be randomly drawn.
World Series rainouts have occurred with regularity over the years. But for decades, baseball operated under the unwritten rule that Fall Classic contests – unlike those in the regular season – would always be played to a nine-inning (or more) completion. As a result, games were sometimes delayed – even if they were past the five-inning mark that signals an official game – before resuming that same day.
